Administrative/Biographical History Note

The Shoshone Journal was created in 1884, after the cessation of its predecessor, the Southern Idaho Democrat. It was the first widespread newspaper in the city of Shoshone, Idaho. It was followed by the Lincoln County Journal, which picked up in 1931 and has continued until the present day.

Scope and Content Note

The Shoshone Journal and Lincoln County Journal Collection includes sixteen microfilm records of most of the printed issues of the Shoshone Journal and of the first three years of the Lincoln County Journal. The isues of this periodicals cover such as topics as agriculture, world events, and local events that reflect movements in the state of idaho and the Magic Valley region. Local politics are also prominently featured in these articles.

This microfilm records in this collection were created by the office of the Lincoln County Journal, which succeeded the Shoshone Journal. They were given to a local school who donated them to the Archives in the 1980s.
