Administrative/Biographical History Note

The founding president of the College of Southern Idaho, Dr. James Taylor had a lasting impact on Golden Eagle athletics. His vision of CSI Athletics has been the cornerstone for one of the most successful junior college athletic programs in the nation. Taylor was the CSI President from 1965-1982.

Scope and Content Note

This collection holds records pertaining to a wide range of topics related to the founding and administration of the College of Southern Idaho. They include items that originated with President Taylor as well as materials that were reviewed by him and submitted for his approval. In addition to policies and committee records, the collection includes blueprints, photographs, and visual records of occurrences and groups at the college.

Provenance

This entire collection was compiled by President James Taylor, who was the first president of the College of Southern Idaho. As he was acting as the president of the College, when he left the presidency the records of his tenure were kept in the archives. These were perhaps the first records kept in the archives.

This series contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other notable documents that were collected by President Taylor and kept at his home. They were delivered to the archives between 2016 and 2023 by President Taylor's son. The series shows what aspects and events related to the College of Southern Idaho were the most important to President Taylor.
