Behavior in the Library (Updated 5/9/22)

The College of Southern Idaho Library expects Library users to behave in a way that is conducive to learning and respectful of the needs of others. It is the expectation of the CSI Library that all users will abide by the directions of Library staff. The Library expects compliance with all College of Southern Idaho policies including but not limited to those dealing with sexual harassment, computer usage, and disorderly conduct, as outlined in the College of Southern Idaho Student Code of Conduct.

Students in the Library are expected to act in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. At the discretion of staff, users in violation of CSI Library policy may be asked to change their behavior or leave the Library. In some instances, the Department of Campus Safety may be called to handle the situation.

Gathering petition signatures and other forms of solicitation are prohibited within the Library.

Library patrons may bring snacks into the library. However, individuals may only bring in drinks that are in covered containers. Food items must be individually wrapped and may not be messy or aromatic. 

Solicitation or any other activity that disrupts or interferes with normal Library functions or with employees’ or patrons’ ability to pursue normal library-related activities are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Any soliciting, polling, selling, or conducting surveys inside Library facilities
  • Any distribution of printed material or other items, whether handed to Library patrons or placed on counters, desks, tables, etc.

Use of Outdoor Equipment

The use of equipment meant for the outdoors, such as in-line skates, roller skates, or skateboards, is prohibited within the Library.

Bicycles are prohibited within the Library.

Cell Phones (5/9/2022)

All cell phones must be set to vibrate. When receiving calls, please speak quietly or go to the lobby.
