Guide to Research (Workshop on Canvas)

Guide to Research is for your own enrichment. It is not for a grade, and will not affect your transcripts. What it will do is give you a variety of tools and resources to help you conduct your research and make it easier to find the information you need to get started on you projects.

In today’s fast-paced world of busy class schedules, work, friends, and family, you may feel a little overwhelmed by the research projects that your instructors have asked you to do. You might be wondering how to get started, where to find articles, and how to sort out the good from the bad. You have probably been asked to cite your sources, and you might be wondering about copyright and fair-use for your materials.

We would like to help. We have put together a collection of resources - Your Guide to Research - in Canvas. Students can self-enroll, and it is not for a grade or credit, so it is not a lot of stress or pressure.

Your Guide to Research covers resources available at the CSI Library including:

•          Our online catalog and article databases

•          Getting started with research

•          Search strategies and keywords

•          Evaluating sources

•          Citation and copyright

•          Interlibrary loan

And remember, if you need help, just...
